Compositor

One feature which alone is worth the price of Compositor is the Luminosity Remap, as accessed by the menu choice, "Apply Luminosity Map". This allows you to remap your target image using the colors from the "LuMap" based on the image luminosities. Flip the map. Rotate. Save. Load another. Scan. Do it in Band mode (click the preview colors rect below the map image). Blend. Scan to a Movie! Gets really neat. Click the above image to see the full version. This one was neat to watch!

Compositor can split an image into the component 3 RGB channels, Red , Green, and Blue, and then recombine them. You can combine channels from 3 different images if you want, or add one to another. You can split the channels using the Split command as either grayscale per channel (Luminosity) or Tinted, which blacks out all but the named channel. Use the Window menu to track them all. Click the below image to enlarge to the actual dialog size.
